Welcome to the PTA page - Victoria Plus!

We have a new support group up and running with a fantastic new name – Victoria Plus.

We meet regularly to organise fundraising and engagement events for pupils, their families and the community.  Our group aims to be an integral part of the school community and to raise money to help improve equipment, resources, support class visits and to enhance our children’s education.

We aim to be much, much more than just a fundraising body.  We aspire to provide closer links between home and school, and to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.  Our group is fun too!  Just speak to any of our committee members and you will realise how passionate, enthusiastic and creative we all are!

We hold regular meetings, usually on Thursday mornings.  If you are interested in joining us, please get in touch using email address  If you feel you are able to help out in any other way, e.g. providing resources, manning a stand, suggesting a fundraising idea, being a helper at an event, donating a raffle prize, please get in touch.  Although we are a strong bunch, we are a small group so all support is welcome!

Who are we?

Patricia McCullough - CHAIR

I have two sons at Victoria PS – Lucas in P5 and James in P3. Four years ago, I joined the Board of Governors at Victoria and have supported the school at various events, training courses, recruitment and selection panels and fundraisers. When this new group was set up, I welcomed the opportunity to be involved in raising funds and raising the school profile in our community with this passionate and talented bunch of volunteers. Previously, I was a part of the Marie Curie North Down Fundraising Group so have a lot of experience of organising fundraisers and my background in hospitality management gives me an understanding of event management. I enjoy family time, learning Spanish, crocheting, socialising and all things Christmas, except for the snow! I’m a huge supporter of Victoria PS and its brilliant and enthusiastic staff.

Fun facts – When I was a Hotel Manager in Dublin, I had to evict TV personality Chris Evans for being rude to a member of my staff.

Hi. My name is Anna. I have a son, Noah in P5, a little boy starting P1 in September and a Baby Girl! Noah started Victoria PS partway through P2 and we all absolutely love the school! I am from Hull in England and work in a pharmacy which I love. I have a passion for health and fitness.

Fun fact – I got married in Las Vegas on 11/11/11!

Naomi Johnston – TREASURER

I’m Naomi. I’ve two sons, Joel in P5 and Matthew in P1. I am from Scotland but have lived in Newtownards for 12 years. I work as a Care Assistant in a nursing home and I love it. I enjoy being creative and making birthday cakes for those close to me. I enjoy caravanning and spending time with family and friends. I have enjoyed being part of the group so far and look forward to raising more money for the school and building on its sense of community.

Hi! I’m Lynsey and I have one child, Lucas in P3. As a mum of an energetic and curious young boy, I am always on the lookout for potential accidents and hazards and, with my first aid training, I embraced the chance to use my skills to plan and organise our events. As Health & Safety Co-Ordinator, I will be helping with Risk Assessments, and helping to ensure that are activities are fun and safe!

However, our family are big fans of Elf on the Shelf and enjoy every December with our elves Buddy and Bella, who aren’t always cautious or safe in their antics!

My name is Carla McCurry and I have three children; the two youngest are at Victoria PS – Capri in P1 and Troy in P6. I love family holidays and I enjoy crafting.

Last June I noticed that there was no Summer Fair at school, and when I enquired about it, I was told that there was no PTA in school. Mrs Moffett asked if this was something I’d be interested in rectifying and I said “Yes!”. Letters were sent home to parents and an interest meeting was held and that’s how our new PTA group was formed! I love being a part of this group and love helping to organise the different events we have planned. I feel I want to give back something to the school, especially as both my children will benefit from my support. I realise that our school needs a functioning PTA group to organise events and raise money within school and within the community and I look forward to continuing our hard work.

I am a past pupil of Victoria PS and my three kids are now in P2, P6 and P7. I was interested in joining the new parent group because I felt I would like to support the school that has been so good for my children and, with continued pressures on school budgets, I thought this was a way I could make a difference. I work as a designer from home so am fortunate enough to have flexible hours that allow me to be around at the times when meeting and events might be running at the school. I am used to event organising through my church and love being part of a team effort.
Fun Fact: I should have been born in 1950 as I love all things from that era!

Tracey Miskimmin – COMMITTEE MEMBER

My son Michael is in P1 at Victoria PS. Another P1 mummy asked me if I’d be interested in joining a PTA group or if I would be able to help out at different school events. As a new parent at the school, I saw this as a great way to get involved and to make new friends. I helped organise the Christmas fair and ran one of the stalls and was involved in the Valentine’s disco planning and organising. I very much enjoy being part of this group and look forward to raising funds to improve the future of our school and our children.

Hi, my name is Elaine, I have one daughter, Lauren in P4.  I work as a software developer in the day time and I’m a Girls Brigade leader in my spare time, I love BoxFit and Zumba dancing although Lauren claims I don’t get the dance steps right very often 😊 I’m involved in a couple of initiatives (cyber safety and Young Enterprise) through the company I work for, in various local primary schools. I really enjoy doing this kind of thing, so when the chance to help out on the PTA came up I decided to get involved.
FUN FACT: I’m a bigger kid than most of the pupils at VPS, I’m always the first one on the bouncy castle 😊
